How to make a good profile on Cuvette and why is it important for getting Jobs/Internships

Cuvette has an easy ‘One Click’ method for applying to Jobs/Internships after you create your profile on its platform. However, we have seen lots of students facing issues in making a good profile and most of the time the question remains the same – “How does a good profile look like? ”

First of all, you should be familiar with the importance of your public profile on Cuvette. When you apply for a Job/Internship post, your profile is processed through our algorithm to check whether you fit well with the requirements mentioned or not. If you match 80% of the requirements, your profile is shown to the company with a ‘recommended’ tag, else your profile is shared with the company and we send you feedback on what you should work on. Based on your profile itself, the company takes the decision whether to proceed ahead with you in the next round or not.

Now, the question arises –  How to make a good profile?

  1. Add projects(minimum 2) and work experience (if any) related to the tech stack you will be applying for
  2. Write a proper description of your projects/work experience and add related links
  3. Add correct skill tags to your projects and work experience
  4. Adding Position of Responsibility
  5. Courses & Certificates
  6. Add links to your socials – Github, LinkedIn, competitive coding platforms or other portfolios
  7. Education details, technical skills, certifications, extracurriculars, and more

1. Projects & Work-experience

The most important part of your profile is the work experience and project experience section. One should have at least 2 quality projects related to the tech stack they will apply for. You should also add all the other projects and work experience you have. Work on it very seriously as all the companies look at this section before making any decision.

2. Description of Projects & Work-experience

Work experience section –

The description part is the most important, add at least 3 points to the description. In the first point write the problem statement on which you were working (What you were building). In the second point, describe what contribution you made to the project. Describe in as many technical terms as possible (mention what tech tools, libraries, APIs, etc you used). In the third point, write details of the major features you developed.

Don’t forget to add certification links, it gives extra credibility. You can also add team members using the ‘Add Member’ button as this will further increase your credibility.

Project section –

The description section is the same as that of work experience. When you add a project to the platform, you will come across some questions that we have included to help you write a better description.

You can add 3 links for each project: one for the repository like GitHub/Gitlab where recruiters can see your code, the second is the live-hosted project link, and lastly, an unlisted video link(Only people with links to this video can see it. Google how to upload video in unlisted form) where you explain your project and its features hosted on google drive or youtube.  Adding the first two links tends to leave a lasting impression on the recruiters but the third will give you an extra edge over other candidates.

3. Add proper Skill tags

Add all the relevant skill tags used in the work experience & projects from the ‘Skills used’ section. If you do not add all the relevant skills properly, there is a chance that you might get rejected by the company as it helps them find a fit for the tech stack that they are hiring for.

4. Adding Position of Responsibility

Mention your position of responsibilities if you have had any. It can be from either your school or college. This would help you showcase your soft skills, capabilities and your personality even if you don’t have any work experience.

5. Courses & Certificates

Do add your courses & certificates(if any) related to the opportunities that you apply for. It shows that you have some experience in the field and you’re not a complete beginner.

Links to your Github profile and Linkedin profile make your account seem legitimate and hence it’s important. Adding links to competitive coding platforms could also be beneficial as few companies do pay attention to it.
In case you’re good at writing blogs, or graphic designing, or if you have a work portfolio on any website that you want to showcase you can add those links as well in your socials.

7. Education, technical skills, Extracurricular activities, and more

Make sure you complete the rest of the sections to make your profile more credible:

  • A good profile picture and tagline.
  • Education details
  • Extracurricular activities that give a glance at your personality and might help you start conversations.
  • Add those skills that you’ve worked with or that you possess relevant to your domain of interest

Digital Resume

After creating your profile, you can also download it as a PDF resume using the “down arrow icon” in case you need to share it outside the platform. This profile also acts as your digital resume. You can click on the “Share” button and then copy the link. Send this link to anyone with whom you want to share your profile.
